Well, it’s always time to stir up something to eat with Louisiana ingredients. Cooking our wild game is a way of life down in the Bayou state. So what are some of the choices? How about cooking yourself up a raccoon stew?  That’s right. Lots of people eat a raccoon in the deepest of the deep southern states. But it’s become a little controversial with recent statements from our US senator. I write about the enjoyment of raccoons, and a former governor who founded his favorite delicacy in my new column. You can read it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

Former LSU All-American Billy Cannon is back in the news, even though he’s passed away several years ago. The president has pardoned Billy for crimes involving counterfeiting sometime back. And what a comeback he made after serving time in prison. I tell the story what happened to this football superstar, and also share some personal memories of how I stumbled onto the counter fitting by Cannon. It’s all in my new column now posted. You can read it by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

When it comes to food down here in the Bayou state, many items are part of the equation creating the best food in America. And one item that always stands out is the Tabasco sauce. I had a personal experience with what Tabasco meant when I was in the legislature back in the 1970s. It got me in some trouble, but I learned a good lesson from it. I write all about it in this week’s column. You can read it now by going to theRed Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

There is lots of concern that has been expressed recently about America’s role in the world today. We once recall the Greatest Generation. Is that still true? Many naysayers our criticizing today’s leadership by saying, we have lost our major role throughout the world. I give you my opinion in my new column. You can.read it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

Many of my Readers do not remember Gerald Ford as president. He took office at a very trying time in the history of our nation.  I met him on three different occasions, all before he became president. You can read all about it by looking at this week’s column. Go to the Red Flashing Box or Clicking Here.

So how politically correct you are in your everyday life? It seems every time we turn around, there’s some different challenge to being political correct. Is all this really necessary? I take a look in this week’s column of how our life has changed. And often it’s not for the better. You can read my new call now by clicking on the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

Author Peggy Sweeney -McDonald has a wonderful new book published through The Lisburn Press about how she embraced the journey with her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease. She calls her challenge “one pink cloud moment at a time.”  So many families must deal with Alzheimer’s today. Peggy’s book offers wonderful insights to her challenges, and how she dealt with her reference to make her mother happy. A wonderful book that I highly recommend.

I hate to make the announcement. It’s a sad one. Unfortunately, politics in Louisiana just is not fun anymore.  There has been such an interesting cast of characters that  represented the Bayou state over so many years. Come see it.AS,mthey say in the south, the days of enjoying political activity has “Gone with the Wind.”  And since I was a part of the statewide political system for 28 years, you can well imagine. I have a lot of things to say about what is transpired.  Take a look at my new column now posted. You can read it by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

So our new Louisiana governor, Jeff Landry, has been appointed by the President to be the special ambassador to Greenland. I guess the Governor is bored and looking for something else to do. But when he leaves the state, who runs the government? The Governor will say he continues to do so by phone and text.  But is this legal?  What does the state Constitution say about this? Who’s in charge? I take a look at this issue in this week’s column. You can read my analysis now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

The year 2025 has been  long and controversial. But it’s now dead and gone.  Are you ready for a new year, 2026? Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I always do. It’s nice to sit back and think what your priorities are for the coming months. I write about my New Year’s wishes and my new column is now posted. You can read it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

Who doesn’t love this special time of year. All part of the holiday season accentuated by Christmas. I did something little different this week. Covid is coming back, in fact, roaring back, in some states. Protecting the south. I know that she could not had Covid shortly did not know what they were missing. Thank goodness!  I personally had quite a bad experience with Covid, and I write about it this week’s column. No one wants to go through what I went through. You can read all about it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

In college football, it’s all about the big bucks. No concern about school loyalty or getting a good education. There’s no better example of this than this than  the flagship university for Louisiana, LSU.  The money being paid out for a football coach and the football program is off the chart. I write about it this week column. You can read it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

A little less lively column this week. I decided to write about the trials and terribly difficult situations presented by those who have Alzheimer’s. I have several friends who had Alzheimer’s  call to tell me goodbye. I share some of these personal stories with you this week. You can read my new column now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.

What a character Louisiana Governor Jimmy Davis was. He died 65 years ago this week. And of course, we all know what he was most famous for. Singing what could be the world’s most popular song, “You Are my Sunshine.”  I knew the Governor for over 30 years. And I write about him in this week’s column. You can read it now by going to the Red Flashing Box above or by Clicking Here.
