JOHN McKEITHEN – LOUISIANA’S TRANSITION GOVERNOR

Former Louisiana Governor John J. McKeithen would have been 96 years old this week.  History has shown him to be Louisiana’s transition governor during the 20^th century.  And “Big John” was the fellow that got me interested in Louisiana politics.  My column this week looks back to the 1960s and the impact that he had on the Bayou State, or as he referred to it, as the deepest of the deep southern states.
