HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE MAY BECOME UNAFFORDABLE ALONG THE GULF COAST!

There are a number of reasons why Louisiana has the highest insurance rates in all of America. I’ve listed many such reasons in previous columns I’ve written over the years. But the worst may not be over now. Just after the first of the year, the new Congress is considering tax options that may increase financial burdens on reinsurers. What does this have to do with Louisiana homeowners? When the reinsurers gets stuck for more taxes, they pass these increases along to the insurance companies, who then pass such increases on to homeowners like you and me.
