Can the City of New Orleans pick and choose which federal laws it will acknowledge and enforce? Apparently so, when it comes to illegal immigration. Federal law is very clear that local municipalities have to cooperate when it comes to arresting and deporting those who broke into this country illegally. But New Orleans likes to call itself a “Sanctuary City,” and basically is ignoring federal laws. Wasn’t that what the Civil War was all about? So should New Orleans be allowed to violate federal law?
