What a month for disasters. Hurricane Harvey caused great devastation in the Houston area as well as parts of Louisiana. And hurricane Irma destruction will take years to repair and recover. And it’s just not hurricanes. There’s a wave of natural disasters in the United States. Wildfires out west, tornadoes in the Panhandle, and flooding from coast-to-coast. States just can’t afford to deal with this problem by themselves. What’s the solution? I talk about it in this week’s column based on years of experience as an insurance regulator.
