The Red Mass!

The Red Mass is a very special ceremony that takes place at the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans on Jackson Square on the first Monday of October. Judges and attorneys from over the state gather for the official opening of the Supreme Court and the legal year. The event is sponsored by the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Association, and I’m honored to be a member, even though I’m not Catholic. It’s a meaningful way of bringing legal and religious doctrine together. Archbishop Aymond always attends, and I consider it an honor to be a part of this marvelous ceremony. Only a few major cities in the country hold a Red Mass, including Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and New Orleans. I’ll be there again next year.
