Old Friends in Amite, La.

What a delightful day this past week in Amite, Louisiana, a small town between New Orleans and Jackson, Mississippi.  Some old friends invited me over to address the Amite Kiwanis Club, and boy did I enjoy all the seafood at Mike’s Catfish House.  My old friend, television promoter and Action17  News Website Editor Ken Benetiz covered the talk, and you can see and listen to my comments in the Video cast box of Jim Brown Radio Show above right.

 Besides Ken, Deke Bellavia was there as editor of the Amite-Tangi Digest.  Deke is one of the most well known sportscasters in the South.  He broadcasts as “The Big Chief” daily on WWL in New Orleans from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm weekdays. That’s Deke and yours truly above..

Tangipahoa parish President Gordon Burgess was there, and old friend who has run the parish for over 30 years.  I was fortunate to have Gordon in my support camp over many statewide elections were I was a candidate.  Gordon is 80 years old, and as you can see above, is still going strong.
