There were high expectations in Louisiana that outgoing President George Bush would pardon former Governor Edwin Edwards.  But it did not come to pass.  Just why didn’t Bush do what he had told several people he would do?  Jim has a theory and you can read it all now by Clicking Here, or by hitting the “Jim’s New Column” link on the left side of this page.  The Moody newspaper chain in Louisiana expressed disappointment in an editorial this week, which you can read by Clicking Here.  You can also watch  local news coverage on the no pardon for Edwards story below.

Thanks to Governor Dave Treen anyway! And to anybody else that tried to get Bush to at least release Governor Edwards from prison, at least for Christmas. Give and ye shall receive! Bush really would have helped his brother be the next president in four years had he helped Edwards and Louisiana. There is more to it all than this, but this is something to think about. Sincerely, Hardy Parkerson, Chm. – Ronald Reagan, Bobby Jindal Conservative Democratic Caucus of Louisiana
